What is the Commission Hole?

Friends and family ask me to illustrate lovely little things for them. It’s a huge honor. I created the Commission Hole to make sure I don’t miss any requests.

What sort of illustrations come out of the Commission Hole?

Since each request is different, it’s hard to say what exactly you’ll get. Examples of past Commission Hole pieces are shared on my Instagram under the hashtag #CommissionHole.

Perfect Commission Hole prompts:

Wedding Gifts: Illustration of the wedding venue, couple illustration, or custom crest.
Baby: Illustration for a baby announcement, art for the baby room, etc. etc.
Animals + Pets: I’ll draw your pets. I’ll capture their essence. This is my promise to you.
Inside Jokes: Let’s say you have a friend you nicknamed “Hotdog Boy” and you wanted to make joke t-shirts that say “I LOVE HOTDOG BOY.” I can design that t-shirt and help you order it.
Bathroom art: My favorite type of request! Send me a picture of your bathroom and I’ll make the perfect piece of art. Either send me a prompt or just let me surprise you.

What if I want something more complex?

I’m happy to make most things, but we may have to update the price point if you want something MAJOR. Send your request and we’ll chat.

What are the licensing rules?

I own the rights to the illustration and give you (or whoever you are gifting the illustration to) permission to use the illustration for personal use. That basically means that you can add the illustration to your holiday card or wedding stationery… personal things like that.

You are not allowed to use the illustration for commercial purposes. You can’t turn it into a sticker and sell it, you can’t use it in business fliers… that sort of thing.

When do I pay Mary $100?

When I’m ready to work on your submission, I’ll email you to discuss delivery and timing. Once that’s settled, you’ll be prompted to pay $100 and I’ll start drawing!

What if I no longer want my commission?

You can cancel your commission anytime before you pay me $100. So if I hit you up and you are like “nah I don’t want this anymore” - totally fine. There’s no fee for cancelling at that point. There are no cancellations or refunds after submitting payment. Thank you and blessings.
